Note from the Chairman, Executive Committee
Dear Owners,
This Newsletter provides an update on a number of subjects, and the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Owners Association.
As it is Election year at the AGM we have an important message –
“Please make sure that you use your votes and proxies”
Golfe Santo Antonio (GSA)
GSA continues to be under the oversight of the Judicial Administrator (Dr. Carlos Inácio) and his assistant (Dr. Rui Rosado). Recent months have seen a number of attempts to sell GSA, so far unsuccessfully. The latest sale auction ended on 15th September and we wait and see if there are any successful bidders. In the meantime, the consortium of owners (plus many investors) from the Parque withdrew their interest in the auction process.
GSA continues to have difficulty in recruiting the necessary staff to fulfil the services required across the resort (including QDM). This summer has seen a number of complaints from owners to GSA.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely in order to ensure that GSA services to QDM are maintained and we continue to work closely with GSA management. We also have the contingency plans, if required.
In the next few weeks, we will repeat the vote that we had last year prior to the AGM, to decide whether we stay with GSA or leave and work with an alternative Service Provider.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
This year’s AGM will be held on Thursday 3rd November in Spike Bar Restaurant. The Agenda and supporting documentation will be advised to you shortly. As stated above, this year’s AGM will include the Election / re–Election of the OA Committee.
The AGM will also address the way forward with respect to improvements to QDM, and working with QDM’s Service Provider.
As usual we will also address the Chairman’s Report and the Fiscal Board Report, addressing the OA accounts, together with the outcome of the vote on the way forward vis–à–vis the Service Provider for QDM.
OA members are encouraged to attend the AGM. If unavailable, please be sure to use your proxy votes on specific Agenda items.
Reserve Fund and Owners Association Subscriptions for 2022
We recently sent out the e–mail inviting the Owners to pay their 2022 Reserve Fund and OA Subscriptions for 2022.
The Reserve Fund is very important to QDM as it funds any major repairs or major equipment replacements that are outside of the maintenance of the infrastructures undertaken by our Service Provider, GSA. The OA Subscriptions pay for the OA’s accountancy costs and legal costs; in addition, each year we give a donation to the Bombeiros at Vila do Bispo, a voluntary fire service.
